Terms and conditions (term time courses)

ESG PHILOSOPHY

At ESG our primary focus is on coaching children and giving them the best possible environment to succeed and be happy. Everything we do is about giving children life skills through sport. In addition to providing sports coaching, we are equally interested in helping your children grow as human beings. We are committed to the individual development of each child. We don’t just produce athletes, we build people. Our goal is simple – to help children realise their potential in life.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Your child’s safety and security are given the highest priority on all of our courses. Children are supervised at all times including break and lunch times. The pick up and drop off procedures are strictly followed for holiday camps because they have been designed for your child’s safety. You will be asked to sign a register and provide details of who is collecting your child - it is essential that you let us know if someone different is going to pick your child up. For term-time courses there is no sign out procedure but children will only be released if their parents or guardians are present. For security reasons we are not able to accept changes over the telephone at any time.

SPECIFIC MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Please tell us at the time of booking if there is anything we need to know about your child’s health. It is essential that we know if they have any health challenges such as allergies, diabetes or epilepsy. In some cases we may need you to complete additional forms and provide further information.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING?

Your child should dress in comfortable sports clothing appropriate for the weather to include trainers and preferably not jeans. It is essential in the summer that your child brings and uses a high SPF sun cream and a hat to protect them from the sun, as well as a refillable water bottle. All children should bring a packed lunch and drinks if they are attending a holiday camp. We provide all the sports equipment, however for Holiday Tennis Camps, many children like to bring their own tennis racquets.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

At all of our holiday camps and courses we have a wet weather programme that swings into operation if it rains. When designing the structure of our courses we take the weather into account. As many of our courses take place at prestigious clubs and schools with excellent indoor facilities we can offer extensive wet weather programmes. At some clubs term-time tennis classes may need to be re-scheduled, in this case we will inform you beforehand whether the class is cancelled and when a catch-up session can be provided.

ORGANISATION

Each ESG sports club has a full-time club manager who oversees the day-to-day running of the club for all courses. An ESG club will have a management team consisting of the club manager, head coach and a club coach. Supporting this team are many group leader coaches. Our management teams have a wealth of experience and are supported by our professional team at head office.

OUR TEAM

Our coaching team makes learning a positive experience for children. We select lively, caring, enthusiastic individuals with a good educational record and strong personal skills. They are chosen as much for their coaching ability as for their communication skills and friendly, enthusiastic nature. As well as being highly knowledgeable about their sport, they have the ability to create and deliver insightful, interesting and fun sessions.

All our coaches are professionally qualified and trained in our coaching methods, designed by Clinton Lamprecht, a world leader in the field of effective learning and training. They have strong pupil-management skills and are background checked under the terms of the Criminal Records Bureau. Team members also attend weekly training and undertake special training courses throughout the year.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

Our experienced coaches know when a child's behaviour simply requires a firmer hand of guidance, however in some circumstances our disciplinary procedures will be brought into action to protect the safety and enjoyment of the other children on our camps.

  1. In an instance of unacceptable disruptive behaviour, the child will be asked to sit out for a few minutes during which time the coach will address the behaviour and explain the consequences of repeated disruption.
  2. If the child continues to behave in an unacceptable manner they will be asked to sit out for the rest of the session.
  3. If the child persists with negative behaviour then they will be taken out of the group and spend the rest of the day with the manager. The manager will talk to the parent/carer and discuss the options. If the child shows a willingness to improve their behaviour then they can return to the camp the next day.
  4. As a last resort, the Club has the right to exclude a child if when they return they continue their persistent and irresolvable unacceptable behaviour.

BULLYING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM.

WHAT IS THE RATIO OF STAFF TO CHILDREN?

The Camp England ratio of coach to child is 1:8 for children up to 7 years of age; 1:10 for children aged 8-10 years, and 1:14 for children aged 11 and over. Tennis England ratios are 1:8 for holiday camps, 1:6 for term time courses and 1:4 by arrangement. Our staff ratios ensure that your child will receive quality coaching and feel secure knowing that there is always a member in the team willing to help.
