Based in Thames Ditton, ESG is a forward-thinking, independent sports provider founded by ex-professional tennis player, Clinton Lamprecht. The company has been coaching children in sports since 1991.  Today, England Sports Group provides fantastic coaching for children in clubs, holiday camps and classes at over 70 venues in Surrey and SW London with a variety of sports such as gymnastics, tennis, netball, football, rugby, basketball, archery, and dance amongst others.

The Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Head Sports Coach with a professional, hardworking, positive attitude and excellent communication and timekeeping skills.  

The Head Coach’s main responsibility is to lead our delivery of planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) cover in schools, breakfast and after schools clubs, club classes and holiday camp. You will also be required to assist with club administration and marketing of programmes while coordinating and managing a coaching team to ensure effective delivery of all sessions. 

The ideal candidate will have completed a sports science and coaching degree. They must have a desire to improve their professional skills as we would put them through the leadership programme: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Role and Responsibilities

Self-employed Head Sports Coach with multiple streams of revenue; working in a specific club and its surrounding schools.

You will be reporting directly to the Chairman of ESG. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading our delivery of PPA cover 

  • Coaching and managing the team in the club and school classes as well as our holiday camps. 

  • Coaching in the club classes, schools, holiday camps as well as private one to one sports coaching.

  • Managing a team of tennis, gymnastic, dance and multi-sport coaches working at the club and school programmes.

  • Developing and growing the club through new school links, new classes and getting more players developing their skills by doing a 2nd class with us.

  • Working with assistant coaches in classes to help them progress as coaches and continue to build the strong team ethic.

  • Creating invoices to arrange payments between the office staff and customers.  

  • Deliver high quality individual lessons.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session.

  • Being professional in your interactions with children, parents, colleagues and schools.

  • Being on time for all sessions

  • Safeguarding of the children 

  • Safe set up and packing away of equipment, ensuring all equipment is stored safely.

  • Teaching relevant skills, progressions and techniques

  • Talking with parents about the progress of their children, when necessary

  • Making sure health and safety procedures are being followed

  • Being familiar with and following all club policies and procedures.



  • Minimum level II sport qualification or a degree 

  • Driving is desirable. 

  • At least 3 years of coaching experience

  • Fluent in English

  • You need to have a love for working with children

  • Great communication skills and a “can do” attitude.

  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail combined with a passion for learning and self-improvement.

  • Ideally located in or near the area.

  • Be willing to work hard
