Part Time Tennis Coach (Term Time)

 

Overview

As a Lead Tennis Coach, you will be leading our after-school tennis classes in local schools in and around the areas we work in that are close to you.

The areas we work in and around are:

Chertsey, Esher, East Molesey, Guildford, Hampton, Teddington, Twickenham Kingston, Richmond & Weybridge

Term time sessions are in local schools Monday – Friday and generally the times are 3.30 – 4.30pm.

There is also potential work at our club programmes during the week after school classes and on Saturday mornings.

We also run Holiday Tennis Camps in the school holidays Monday to Friday 9.45am to 4.15pm.

About us

England Sports Group works with over 70 schools across Middlesex & Surrey, with a variety of sports such as gymnastics, dance, tennis, netball, football, rugby, basketball and archery amongst others.

Our 'Life Skills Through Sport' programme for children and 'Raising the Status of the Sports Coaching Profession' are the two pillars of our philosophy. We have created a quality culture, determined to develop every child and coach to their full potential.

We currently coach over 2,000 children a week and we want to release the potential in all of the children we teach.

 

The Role:

As a Lead Tennis Coach, you will be responsible for a group of children of similar ages to coach tennis at an introductory level.

 

You will have a group of 8-10 children of similar ages to coach tennis on all technical and tactical fundamentals of the game, whilst using a games-based approach to make sure they have lots of fun!

You will potentially have assistant coaches working with you, who you will be responsible for ensuring their class of children runs smoothly and giving advice, support and feedback to.

You will be developing agility, balance and coordination; getting the children to learn forehand, backhand, volleys, serving and smashes. The aim for younger children is to develop their skills to rally and for older children to learn how to play matches.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session.
  • Being professional in your interactions with children, parents, colleagues and schools.
  • Being on time for all sessions
  • Safeguarding of the children
  • Assisting with the safe set up and packing away of equipment, ensuring all equipment is stored safely.
  • Teaching relevant skills, progressions and techniques
  • Talking with parents about the progress of their children, when necessary
  • Making sure health and safety procedures are being followed
  • Being familiar with and following all club policies and procedures.

 

Requirements:

Must be 18 years old minimum

Ideally have tennis qualifications

DBS Checked

Reliable & Punctual

Great class management

Highly personal with great communication skills

A love for working with children

You must be eligible to work in the UK

You must be able to speak English fluently

You must be currently living within a 30 minute commutable distance of this position.

Coaches with a minimum of a LTA Level 2 will be viewed more favourable

Job Type: Part Time

Rates of Pay:

Term Time Coaching: £18.00 to £20.00 per hour depending on your age, experience and/or qualifications.

Holiday Camps: Daily Rate
