Lead Tennis Coach – Chertsey Area

Based in Thames Ditton, ESG is a forward-thinking, independent sports provider founded by ex-professional
tennis player, Clinton Lamprecht. The company has been coaching children in sports since 1991. Today,
England Sports Group provides fantastic coaching for children in clubs, holiday camps, and classes at over 70 venues in Surrey and SW London with a variety of sports such as gymnastics, tennis, netball, football, rugby, basketball, archery, and dance amongst others.

The Role Overview

As a Lead Tennis Coach, you will be leading our after-school tennis classes in local schools
in and around the Chertsey area.
Term time sessions are in local schools Monday – Friday and generally the times are 3.30
– 4.30pm.
Holiday Camps run in the school holidays Monday to Friday 9.45am to 4.15pm.
 
There is also potential work at our club programs during the week after school classes and
on Saturday mornings.
 

Role and Responsibilities

This is a self-employed position.
 
As a Lead Tennis Coach, you will be responsible for a group of children of similar ages to
coach tennis at an introductory level.
 
You will have a group of 8-10 children of similar ages to coach tennis on all technical and
tactical fundamentals of the game, whilst using a games-based approach to make sure
they have lots of fun!
You will potentially have assistant coaches working with you, who you will be responsible
for ensuring their class of children runs smoothly and giving advice, support and feedback
to.
You will be developing agility, balance and coordination; getting the children to learn
forehand, backhand, volleys, serving and smashes. The aim for younger children is to
develop their skills to rally and for older children to learn how to play matches.
 
Key responsibilities include:
• Bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session.
• Being professional in your interactions with children, parents, colleagues and
schools.
• Being on time for all sessions
• Safeguarding of the children
• Assisting with the safe set up and packing away of equipment, ensuring all
equipment is stored safely.
• Teaching relevant skills, progressions and techniques
• Talking with parents about the progress of their children, when necessary
• Making sure health and safety procedures are being followed
• Being familiar with and following all club policies and procedures.
 

Requirements

Must be 18 years old minimum
Must have tennis Level 1 or higher qualifications
DBS Checked – this can be done through us
Reliable Punctual
Great class management
Highly personal with great communication skills
A love for working with children
You must be eligible to work in the UK
You must be able to speak English fluently
You must be currently living within a 30 minute commutable distance of this position.
Coaches with a minimum of a LTA Level 2 will be viewed more favourable
