NPL Tennis Club Family Tournament 2017

NPL Family Tournament 2017

At NPL Tennis Club (Teddington ESG) we had our Family Tournament on Sunday 21st May, so we sent our ESG Mascot (Champ) down to see what was going on.

We asked Champ to explain what a Family Tournament is - ‘This is a fun tournament and is designed to get parents and children playing together as a doubles team. Children and adults of any age/ability can play in the tournament, meaning you could have one pair consisting of a 7 year old partnering a good adult player competing against a 12 year old partnering an adult who hasn't played for 20 years.'

It was an early start for Champ, who had to help set up ready for the morning of tennis, but this was made much easier with the glorious sunshine! There was a great turnout and Champ commented on how lovely it was to see adults and children playing together as a team!

There was some great tennis on show and Champ said 'it was brilliant to see when the older junior players were playing against younger players, they made sure that they came away with a positive experience. It was also great to see the younger players going easy on the oldies!'

After some closely fought matches in the group stages, the final of the tournament was a close encounter with Kiran Lathia-Hamblin & Chris Belcourt sneaking it against Benjamin & Jono Adams.

Congratulations to Kiran and Chris!

Champ had a lovely morning at the club, meeting all the players, getting some selfies with them and was glad he applied his factor 50 sun cream with the amazing sunshine! Roll on summer!

See you on court soon.
